EU launches €1.5 billion programme for the development of the defence industries, including funding for Ukrainian drones, ammunition, and innovation

Funding for production and support for Ukraine

1. Over €700 million will be directed towards scaling up the production of critical defence capabilities, including counter-drone systems, missiles, and ammunition.
2. Of this amount, €260 million is allocated under the Ukraine Support Instrument (USI) for the restoration and modernisation of Ukraine’s defence industrial base. These involve joint projects between Ukraine and EU member states, based on Ukraine’s current needs, enabling production to be scaled up simultaneously in both Ukraine and the EU.
